Surviving Domestic Violence

Huffington Post Update on Paid Leave for DV Victims

In January Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill to protect domestic violence victims from being evicted for frequent calls to the police. But when the Senate took up the bill on Tuesday, Republicans attached controversial language to the bill that would prevent city and county governments from passing paid or unpaid leave legislation…….

  1. That’s so ridiculous. If politicians can’t rise above politics for an issue like DV, we should kick them out of office.

  2. That is so typical. Because greedy corporations and municipalities are interested in two things: the bottom line and keeping money in their greedy pockets. This makes me sick. Draft a bill to help victims and attach an amendment that totally screws them. Unbelievable. If we could get everybody out of Congress who’s been there for more than four years and get all new blood in there; new blood with fresh and progressive ideas and send the rest of them out to pasture. Arrrgh, don’t even get my started. I can go on a real rant about this and so much more! Thank you for bringing this to light. Now if people would only get on the phone and contact their congressmen and representatives and tell them to drop the amendment. When their phones start ringing, they do take notice. At least put it in the people’s hands and let them voice.

    • Thank you so much for reading and commenting greyzoned. It is a disturbing issue that only numbers can change. That is the intent anyway.

I’m sure the MEN that passes this would think differently if the DV victim was their mother, or sister, or daughter….
